Rodents

The three main rodents in NSW are the Norway rat, Roof rat and mice. The Norway rat being the largest rodent can reach up to half a kilogram in size. They live in burrows in the ground, creek beds or anywhere accessible to water. They are warm-blooded and like to access roof cavities mainly in the winter months. The roof rat has caused many electrical fires from gnawing at wires in roofs and walls. Method of control includes baits in roof cavities, rodent stations for rats and mice; glue boards at proofing of homes and buildings to limit access.
