Fleas

Fleas are more prevalent in humid climates between Sydney and the east coast of Australia. The black death in London in the 14th Century was caused by fleas living on rats, killing approximately 60% of Europe’s population. Fleas are common in houses with pets. They will lay dormant in carpets and soil for months. They will hatch on vibration when a meal comes along – cat/dog. One flea can lay five hundred eggs and can get out of control in the right conditions. Treatment of animals is a must and washing animal bedding in hot soapy water is recommended. Treatments involve blanket spraying of entire floor areas within the house, and spraying of gardens and lawns.
